Why We Created Cordelia
When my wife and I were dating and planning our wedding, she came home one day from work and said that someone wanted to know what we would like as a wedding present. Both of us shook our heads in confusion because there really wasn’t anything that we wanted, and even if there was, we certainly didn’t feel comfortable asking for it.
I said to her, “I don’t know. Why don’t you tell them that they can buy us dinner at a nice restaurant or send us off on an activity because we love to do things?” That’s when Cordelia was born.
We wanted to create an opportunity to take the guesswork out of gift giving, whether it’s for a wedding or any other event in someone’s life. And instead of giving people things or gift cards, we wanted people to have the opportunity to go out and do things. Activities make memories that last a lifetime, so we created Cordelia with the purpose of making an experience gift-giving opportunity.
The idea for the Memory Box came from a tradition we started while we were dating. Every time we go away—whether it’s a weekend, a day trip, or a longer vacation—we each get a postcard for the other person and write down our favorite memory of that experience. We save them in an actual postcard box to look back on and build up over the course of our lives. That is what inspired Cordelia’s Memory Box.

What does it cost?
Nothing. Creating, sharing, and giving through Cordelia is free, with no subscription and no paid upgrades. Optional donations help keep it free.
Is anything taken out of the gift?
No. Cordelia never touches your gift money, nor takes any fees. Givers give directly to the person receiving the gift.
Do Givers need an account?
Givers enter an email and choose a password right at checkout so they can see their gift and receive the thank-you postcard. No app download is needed.
How does giving an Experience work?
Givers choose an Experience from the list to give as a lasting memory. After enjoying it, the person receiving the gift sends a photo and personal message back through the private Memory Box.
Do you sell our data?
No. Cordelia does not sell personal information and does not use advertising trackers.
Can we use this for a wedding or honeymoon?
Yes. Cordelia works for weddings, honeymoons, new babies, birthdays, graduations, retirements, holidays, or just because.
